Thermal Mass Flow Meter

Image
About - Thermal mass flow meters, also known as thermal dispersion or immersible mass flow meters, are used to measure total mass flow rate of a fluid, primarily gases, flowing through closed conduits.   It is a direct mass flow meter with no moving parts.   Theory of Operation- A  Thermal Mass Flow Meter  contains two temperature sensors for this purpose. One sensor measures the fluid temperature as a reference. The second sensor is heated and has a constant temperature differential relative to the first sensor. When the flow of air/gas starts heat is taken away from the warmer sensor. The amount of heat taken away is having a direct relation with the mass velocity of the fluid. That is how it is a direct mass flow meter. Being a direct mass flow meter, it does not require any pressure and temperature compensation.   Types- There are two types of Thermal Mass Flow meters, 1-       Thermal Dispersion/Immersible Ty...

Industrial Oxygen Flow Meter

Image
Digital flow meters used to measure industrial oxygen flow rate are many times referred as Oxygen Flow Meters. It is critical to select an appropriate flow meter for measuring and monitoring oxygen flow. For industries producing oxygen, there is a requirement of an accurate flow meter, because oxygen tanks or tankers are filled with known volume (the pressure is defined), and the manufacturer bills based on the volume of gas. Let us see some industrial applications of Oxygen Flow Meter. 1-     Chemical Industry- In its purest form, oxygen is used in many important chemicals such as ethylene oxide and titanium dioxide. It is also used to increase the production capacity of oxidation processes. To strengthen the process and boost the output of chemical fertilizers, oxygen is primarily employed for the oxidation of raw gas in the manufacturing of synthetic ammonia. The high-temperature cracking of heavy oil is further example where oxygen is required. An Industr...

Compressed Air Flow Meter

Image
Most industrial facilities require compressed air , which is one of the most expensive energy sources within a factory. Compressed air is costlier than steam. Furthermore, unlike steam, which is visible at the leaking spots, it is invisible when it seeps. Compressed air leakages consume more electricity than any other type of equipment.   How to measure Compressed Air flow rate? One of the popular Compressed Air Flow meters is a Thermal Mass Flow Meter. Whenever a fluid of a certain temperature is passed over any substance hotter than the fluid, the heat of the hot substance is taken away because of forced convection by the fluid, and the temperature of that substance drops. This fall in temperature is related to the mass flow of the fluid passing over the substance. If one can measure the amount of heat taken away by the flowing fluid one can calculate the mass flow rate   Features of Compressed Air Flow Meter- ·       ...
